Competitions are one of the main activities featured on a brand’s Facebook Page. Brands try to make it diverse and there are different ways of doing it… Some run a competition with a simple Facebook post, other create an app on the tab. The bravest ones run it on their own website using a Facebook plugin.
What’s the best way of running a Facebook competition?
The answer is not that simple. They all have their benefits. The post content is very simple so it’s more shareable and the reach will be much bigger. The tab allows you to ask participants to like the page first and you can retrieve some contact details from the users (Facebook does not give access to email addresses any-more). The web version simply drives traffic to your company website, which is what it’s all about!
The answer: testing
In-order to find out what works best for your page and your audience you need to test it out and see what they respond to most. For example, a younger audience is more willing to share things to their timelines and give away personal details. People with big networks that take part in a voting competition on your site will try to get their friends involved to help them win the competition.
What can you seek from participants?
Unfortunately you can’t do whatever you like with your Facebook fans. There are some rules that Facebook created to protect the users and keep the news-feed less spam prone. To make things clear and easy for you, we’ve created this table:
