Recently, Facebook introduced a new form of advertising – multi-product ads. Which means you can now connect several links and related images to one ad.
We’ve prepared a short tutorial on how to set up your very own Facebook multi-product ads campaign.
Ad Concept and ImagesFirst of all, take a moment to consider the goal of the campaign. What are you trying to achieve? i.e. raise awareness of your new products, services, special deals, events. Once you have settled on your objectives and what success looks like you will need to draft copy for your ad. When it comes to writing make sure you take into consideration your target market and what tone of voice they have come to recognise from your brand and what is most likely to grab their attention. You will need to prepare a brief line that will sit at the top of the ad. We would recommend introducing your campaign, brand, product or service. – a couple of lines here will suffice. Decide on how many panels you will need – this will depend on the nature of your campaign – Facebook allows you to have 3 or more. Each panel will require an image sized 600×600 px. Again when choosing your images be creative (remember a picture tells a thousand words!) Use interesting images and enhance with filters, avoid stock photos or pictures that are too cluttered and busy.
Power EditorWhen everything is ready, you need to go to your Ads Manager and open Power Editor. From there, select your ad account and download it to Power Editor.
Create CampaignThe next step is to create a campaign. In the ‘Campaigns’ tab go to ‘Create Campaign’ and give it a meaningful title. The multi-product option is only available when you select ‘Website’ or ‘Website Conversion’ in the ‘Objective’ drop down box.
Create Ad SetsIn the second tab, ‘Ad Sets’ create Ad Set, name it and save. In this section you also need to set up other elements: ‘Budget’, ‘Target Audience’, ‘Placement’ and ‘Pricing’. Set up the ad as you would normally with the exception of ‘Placement’. Multi-product ads can only be displayed on news-feeds, so you can only choose ‘News Feed Mobile’ or ‘News Feed desktop’. The other options that are selected won’t be implemented.
Create AdSo now…time to create your ad. Once created in Power Editor you need to assign the Facebook Page you want to have associated with the ad - this is where you choose ‘Multiple Images and Links in One Ad’. In the first ‘Text Field’ you will need to enter the description of the status. Then, upload your images with the URLs that you want the images to link to together with the titles for each panel and a short description. Once you’ve uploaded all of the images, added the titles, description and links…you’re almost done!
Upload to Ads ManagerMake sure the status of your ad is active. When you’re all done you need to upload the changes from Power Editor to your Ads Manager. Now the ad will appear as ‘Pending Review’ and, unless it’s breaking Facebook’s rules, or the target audience is too large, it will be approved within a few minutes.
